We are proud to present the long awaited [ouzo21] which celebrates our new webpage, as of now officialy back online (sorry international visitors, english version up very soon! ).

This new release, titled “Visiones” (”Visions”), continues the tradition set by our previous Various Artists compilations ( like [ouzo10] or [ouzo19] ). This time we decided to bring along various guests, all of them friends and collaborators of the label, and its in this way that the release honours its name, giving us many distinct perspectives over the dancefloor which share the same sensibility, based more strongly on groove than on repeated cliches. Although this is mainly a dance compilation, there are some winks to the eclecticism that is common on any Ouzo release.

“Mak3″ by Abdul, “San Expedito” by Tinitus and “Pal Momento” by La Orquesta del Beat Invisible open and close the compilation, escaping the dance genre. In between them Anikana, Claudio, Matias Muten and Z@p are joined by Edunetto, Franky Da Monkey, Kembou, Marcos Coya, Alex Maiz and Neurus… a true arsenal aimed straight at the dancefloor…

Xylophones, Digital percussions, Brasses, Subsonic basslines, Jazzy electric pianos … These are some of the elements these producers weave together in a dance context, breathing some new air into a sometimes stale genre.

With nothing more to say, we hope the music talks for ourselves.

Closing the trilogy that we started last year “Perspectivas”, the labels 19th release is aproppiately titled “Similitudes”. Although the 6 tracks in this compilation are from 6 different artists (with deep contrasts in style), the album mantains a unifiying concept: the intention of infusing dance music ( a genre so often plagued with repetition) with the dinamism and originality that many times it lacks.

Monoblock opens the album proving why this duo (composed of Martin TC and Guikle two of Ouzo’s founding artists) is breaking concepts in the european dancefloors, obtaining support by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink or Mike Shannon: “Dumbo (beat invisible remix)” is dark and melodic techno with tango influences and an infectious groove.

Mateo follows with “Sad cuz u far” a piece of deep and delicate techno with jazzy chords layered on top. Z@p presents his work in combination with Edunetto from our friend label Grhk.org, and it is a promising debut indeed with “Jipi”: a tech-funk track with a fat bassline and a housy atmosphere. The fourth track is “Little Fiend” by Matias Muten in which this constantly evolving artist takes us on a journey through the darker side of tech-house. A classic bomb, ideal for after hours.

Anikana is a misteryously new Ouzo artist and not much is known about his identity, but one thing is for sure: we’ll be waiting for more of his tracks. “Nieblas” is all dissonant melodies and layered effects which submerge us in a techno context. Finally, closing the album comes Claudio who shows his classic seal of originality: “Abrazo de Cinco” is a densely layered techno track, with syncopated rhytms, a dub sensibility and warm atmospheres that rise and fall into pools of reverb and effects.

Just when were getting used to his last album , Claudio brings a new EP which builds and expands upon “Karma’s” [ouzo11] characteristics. Although “Racin” includes touches of minimal or acid, it is strictly a pure techno album, directed straight at the dancefloor through detailed sound processing.

Effects are used here without fear, with the pools of reverb and delay creating a feeling sometimes reminiscent of a dub album , a warm texture on which Claudio layers his trademark shuffled beats, generating relaxed grooves that can keep up the energy level in the dancefloor without losing that warm edge.

“Bateries” opens the album with an incisive rythm and an acidic bassline, “Group Me” is a shifting piece made of various percussive sounds and shimmering reverbs that fade in and out of the mix. “Traelo” closes the record with a darker attitude, leaning towards an after hours atmosphere. Convergencia is different from Zap’s previous work, introducing new colors into this young producers pallete. While “Jeux”[ouzo08] was a dark and clubby album, this EP presents a new perspective: organic sounds, mellow pads and a varied collection of samples from various sources merges with tech house rythms, creating a warm and deep feeling without forgetting the dancefloor.

“Casimiro” opens the album with a drum figure soaked in reverb and atmospheric pads which evolve into some flute samples and acoustic toms. “Trip” is like its name implies a passage through a strange chord progression.

“Don” closes the album with various samples and field recordings layered on top a its groove infected house rythm, and theres even space for a vocal snippet regarding a certain witch doctor from Mexico. Let yourselves be carried by Zap’s sound, you wont regret it.

Karma es el esperado EP debut de Claudio en Ouzo, y es tambien el redondeo de una etapa en la produccion de este artista, ya que las cinco pistas contenidas en este album estaban presentes ya hace un tiempo en sus live sets, sin haber sido editadas en formato album.

Con influencias del minimalismo mas clasico y muchisimos detalles de produccion, los temas se desarrollan en varios planos al mismo tiempo, con una profusa utilizacion del reverb que situa los distintos sonidos en diferentes espacios fisicos.

Vocales espaciadas y sugerentes, bajos profundos, ritmos inteligentes y sincopados… son algunos de los elementos que Claudio elige para inducir al baile, y a traves de un cuidado tratamiento sonoro no solo lo logra, sino que las 5 pistas mantienen una sorprendente unidad conceptual, transmitiendo un particular estado de animo y manteniendo el interes del oyente siempre alto

Si lo que les gusta es el techno groovero y con recursos, no se pierdan este EP, pieza indispensable para esas noches en vela… que sea el primero de muchos mas.

The labels tenth release works as a retrospective over all the work done in the last year since the relaunch of the page.

With 12 tracks, 11 of them unreleased and almost of all the labels artists involved, “Perspectivas” gives us a general glimpse into the different styles which live side by side in Ouzo: dub, downtempo, drum n bass, IDM, sound experiments and various subgenres within dance music, from minimal to tech-house…

This being the first compilation released by Ouzo, “Perspectivas” was born with the intention of reafirming the concept that we permanently try to imbue in everything that Ouzo does: a taste for good music, without any distinction of style or interpretation.
