psylocibe - acusphere (ma045)

Netlabel: www.musicartistry.de
Style: electronic, technohouse

Psylocibe, Italy’s prime Drum ‘n’ Bass - import, are back with a bang. This time it’s not DnB though: Their second EP on Musicartistry ranges from Downtempo to classic 4/4 - tracks, impressively demonstrating their artistic flexibility.

Listen to “Psylo” for example - a track that will take you away into acoustical spheres from which you won’t be able to return, even if you wanted to.

Illusions is Vadim Lankov’s latest work on Musicartistry. But don’t be mistaken by the title: It’s not that he wants to lead you astray but still… be warned!. Side effects may include getting out of touch with reality, hallucinating severely and suffering from extrasensory perception.

Next to our contest-winners’s tracks the releases will include contributions by Nico Grubert, Wes Rock, John Lagora, Markus Masuhr and other great artists. The second installment will be released on May 3rd.

It was quiet for a couple of seconds. What would follow next? They looked at each other in surprise. It was only now that they realised: This was paradise. If only it wasnt half past two.

The friendship and cooperation between Musicartistry and Michael Stapf has lasted for more than five years. A nice anniversary rounded off by Michael’s first EP: “Spacebreaker”, the follow-up to his surprise-track “Sociopath” on the “1974 - Back to…” - compilation. Typical “Stapf-Tech-Electro-Sound” find the way to your ears.

k fog - the k-series (ma031)

NetLabel: www.musicartistry.de
Link: release
Style: minimal house, minimal deep, tech-house

“K” doesn’t stand for the usual clicks’n'cuts-sound that’s so popular nowadays. His interpretation of the term “Netmusic” stands for trying out new ideas and leave old paths behind in favour of new spaces for interpretation.

This flexibility is one of the reasons why K.Fog, despite his releases on vinyl, keeps publishing on netlabels. His new “K-Series” sees him reworking the old basic channel-sound and infusing it with new ideas - a distinct difference to what he has released so far. And surely a release that will provoke mixed responses since the fact that the tracks aren’t as precise and clear as usual leaves room for all kinds of interpretations.

The EP is rounded off by two remixes, one provided by berlin-based dub-outfit Authist & Dub One!, the other one by Peripherique, who has long become a household name here on musicartistry, be it as Peripherique, Phour Trakk or as one half of the Zengineers.

He saw it at dawn and at first he was sure his eyes were betraying him. But as they moved nearer the more he became convinced that something was there, although it seemed impossible to determine what it was, protruding from the ground, barely visible.

Finally, globetrotter Wes Rock arrived at musicartistry, presenting his first EP ‘Society’, a five-track record mirroring the experiences made on his journeys, travelogues told through bass and beats.

Va - Globalization (mad026)

NetLabel: www.musicartistry.net
Archive.org: details
Style: various

Globalization, netlabel-style: Six netlabels from all over the world (well, Germany, USA and Canada, that is) join forces to bring you this internationally-flavoured techno-compilation: Three German netlabels, namely ‘Digital Kunstrasen’, ‘Electroreptil’ and ‘Musicartistry’, two American labels, ‘DoBox Recordings’ and ‘Random Access Recordings’, as well as Canadian ‘Seedsound’ are the contributors to this impressive release.

Every label will be represented by one artist who adds two of his tracks. For Musicartistry this will be Brett Knacksen who gives us a small preview of his full-length-release (available June 2007 on Musicartistry) with his two parts of ‘Polyknacks’.

The other artists are Qorser, beckmann, Ben Crea, Amoeba Funk and of course Pantherklub, well known for his label “Electroreptil” and his release on Musicartistry.

Funk Sinatra - Jahlander Lp (ma025)

The album deals with mr. Sinatra’s two major musical loves - dub and techno. Working with a minimal set up of a pc, turntable and a mic. The tracks you’ll hear are the result of tedious nights of djing then rushing to the studio to write the ideas steaming from his brain during the sets.

The album is constructed almost as a night out - beginning slow and trippy, gathering speed then go in it at full speed and finally collapsing again. The minimal feel is very obvious here, and it has been a factor in it’s music since the begining in 1995.

The idea was (and always is) to create 3-dimensional music that seems to be 2-dimensional to the naked ear.

After contributing ‘Work Underwater’ to our 1974-compilation, Vadim Lankov from Russia finally presents his debut EP on Musicartistry, a small but kicking release consisting of three tracks designed to make every dancefloor move.

Starting with the two melodic, atmospheric smashers ‘Emotionsuckers’ and ‘Ferns & Candles’ that guarantee to make you want to shake your ass as hard as you can, ‘Could It Feel Better’ promises a safe landing with its relaxed athmosphere.
